Elaine Cimino is an alumna of Art Center College of Design and the California State University Northridge and holds a Masters degree in painting and photography. She has 18 years college level teaching experience in drawing, painting and art history. She has worked as an artist-in-residence in the public school system throughout northern New Mexico and developed a summer college program for high school students to earn college credit in the visual and performing arts. In 1998, Ms. Cimino established an environmental NGO that works on source water protection and safeguards drinking water from nuclear weapons production. She has lectured on the effects of global warming on drinking water and worked on environmental justice for indigenous and culturally diverse communities. Her artwork reflects the deep ecology that she practices and a sense of place within the landscape that she lives. Currently she resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
